The RCMP has made us
criminals for watching Tv of our choice
Wake up ! All Canadians who love to watch TV of your choice, and all the satellite dealers - RCMP says that we are all Criminals, BULL I say!!!!!! We are not criminals !!!! it is OK to watch whatever you like, there have been judgments that say it is legal to watch any satellite programming that is not sold in this country even with a test or pirate card. There also has been only one case where the judge found that US satellites were not legal in Canada…. so why should we care what one judge has to say, when the RCMP thinks that all the other judgments were of no value.
If a person comes from the middle east and would like to watch TV programming with contents that have connotation about their religion and culture, which does not have a legal distributor in Canada, but can be easily obtained from the Grey market, WHY should that be illegal???? It is ones RIGHT to watch what one wants.
Guys, it has been more than 30 years since man first walked on the moon. The radio communication act of Canada is older than that!! Now thanks to the Internet the world has become such a small place. Don't you think that it is high time that we should have a satellite communication act in place by now??? When people in US have the freedom to watch and the right to choose whatever they want to watch on their TV, then why should the same thing be illegal in Canada??
Canadian people would welcome to pay legal channels to enable them to watch TV programming of their choice, but unfortunately we in Canada do not have a legal distribution for US programming and this encourages the GREY market and the piracy. CRTC will not a let US distributor to sell legally in Canada on the ground that the programming does not have enough Canadian content. Where is issue of Canadian content when it comes to radio, internet, news papers magazine, libraries, food products, clothing, etc.?
What if I have legal cable and it has all the Canadian content and I decide to get a satellite. Will that make a difference?
If the Canadian programming is shit and no one wants to watch it? RCMP cannot (indirectly) force people to watch the garbage Canadian system that is way over priced and will never come close to the US system.
We Canadians Have to Fight for our right to Chose. We do not live in communist Cuba . The estimates that there are over 200,000 US Satellite systems in Canada are way off. There are 700,000 plus US satellite systems in Canada. Out of which many belong to RCMP officers, Judges, Lawyers, Ministers, and high post government officials. Should we count all these people in criminal category too?!!!
While gambling is Legal, which is very profitable to the government and terrible to the society, watching TV of your chose is not!! This is for you - Bell Expressview Canada - either improve your price and programming or get lost.

CRTC, it is high time to change your OLD RADIO COMMUNICATION laws. (Who uses a radio any way?) We live in the satellite age and we need new satellite laws and if you can't do it because Bell Expressview and Rogers cable is too powerful for you to handle then leave the Canadians alone who love to watch good TV.
If the US satellites are illegal in Canada, why are they not being stopped at the border? Is it because the government gets 7% GST?? No, I don't think so. All of a sudden after the satellite is installed on your roof, you become a criminal and the satellite becomes criminal?? This confusion is all bull and has to STOP!!!!! The government can not stop these SATS from coming in to Canada. If they try to do that, they will have to stop all CB radios and Short-wave radios and many communication related accessories too…..this will just be impossible.
Well think about it. They have attacked our right of choice when it comes to TV programming. If you are living in Canada you can read US Newspaper, eat American food, drink US water, marry a US girls, wear US clothing, drive US cars, but not watch US TV ? This can't be right. RCMP is on DTV's pay roll. Maybe Expressview is also paying them on the side, but during the new raids in Toronto they also picked up all the ECHO stars (if they did this because they don't know the difference between ECHO star and DSS, then that's all right) I was wondering if echo is also paying them?!!
I have talked to may guys that have been raided, they all say that the RCMP guys that come had no clue what they are looking for. They just took what ever they felt like. Some of the dealers also noticed that the RCMP most of the officers were not even showing interest in what they were doing. They were just half- heartedly following orders of a Senior Officer present. This indicates that only the Senior Officers are benefiting ($$$$$$$), thanks to DTV, Expressview problems.
There are few dealers trying to get together and fight for the rights of all you Canadian guys. They will sue the RCMP and will win. We know we will win and may be get lucky in exposing those dirty RCMP officers. More information on this will be posted soon. I have posed all the newspaper clippings I could find and comments that I liked on different web sites. Go through them and if you have any thing to say it will be posted here just send me an email. All names will be left out unless you specify that you like to see your name or nick with the posting. I promise you I will make a big deal of this. We live in Canada, not in Cuba. We have RIGHTS.
Government of Canada - we would like to watch whatever we please on our TV. Please make laws that are clear, and once for all resolve the issue. If you have good enough grounds and can clearly indicate to us in black and white that we do not have the right to chose what we watch on our TV, and why, I will understand. But when there are no clear cut laws and RCMP Industry Canada are misinterpreting the current laws, lying to the judges, getting illegal search warrants, and harassing Canadians. The day this issue is resolved with the new law, whatever the end result, this site will thank the government for making it clear, and war will end.
